What are the thoughts about the benefit or negatives of having a dog preview (stir up) before a race. Does it really help. I do sometimes but I really can not see any difference in the dogs performance other than a maiden which is still learning to race and helps get their mind on the job at hand. Thoughts please

Personally I don't think many dogs need it. But those who do need it, do need it. If that makes sense.
But I also think it does more harm than good to most dogs and it's actually the trainers who are getting the stir-up.
Dogs aren't stupid. They know they are racing as soon as they pull up at the track.

Would have to agree with Jamie. I think you know if your dog needs a stir up. Theres even the chance of injury with dogs jumping and twisting on the lead. These are the dogs that dont need it in the first place IMO. Cheers
