I agree Graham. Tommy looks a nice option for Barcia bitches & Black Shiraz trace line bitches. I also think anybody with Malawi Prince trace line bitches should give him some thought as well. I think he should suit a lot of bitches along with Wow whose Osti lines just keep on producing quality animals & he could throw another great son straight back to himself & Fernando given his paternal male genetic colour inheritance. I think he will constantly throw to his male paternal line. Just my opinions

Any figures on matings by Fernando Bale sons at stud. (unproven)
Much appreciated if anyone can advise.

I am blessed with one of his sons, Mashmad Bale, bred in Ireland. He is chasing all day even trough a brick wall, and he is trapping like noone else here. He sired 2 litters in Europe, 1 in Germany (a daughterbroke a track record already) and anothe 1 in Hungary, unfortuneately only a few pups are living/racing ut they are brilliant! We have some frozen semen of him located in Hungary/Europe. He is a good kenneler, great in everything you would ask from a racing greyhound, and even his damline (by Ballymac Eugenie) is brill, related to Premier Fantasy. I can not wait to see her daughters racing in 2022!

Fernando bale has now served over 1260 across Australia and Nz.

Given he has served the best and produced the best it makes to reason that the opportunities for his many champion sons at stud in future years will be more limited than for any other sires offspring we have previously seen.

I think you are right Andrew - the other big watch is monitor if and how many of his bitches retain recessive genes for his less desirable trait being the capacity to throw undersized offspring. Until such time his 2nd offspring traits/conformation are revealed ,breeders will have to be careful to select sires that consistently throw conformation into their progeny. Not saying he won't make a great dam sire - just a watch that's all - at this time.

And it won't be too far down the track before we have a big pool of brooditches and sires with both Fernando and Barcia Bale in their pedigree

Looking to the future it will be important to either start importing more diverse blood from the diminishing USA pool, the Irish/UK pool or start resurrecting some older sire lines from this country that have gone by the wayside i.e. Malawi's Prince, Just The Best, Light Of Fire (still relatively current now with Feral Franky & Good Odds Harada possibly looking the goods) and to a lesser extent Brett Lee and Bombastic Shiraz

Barcia Bale x Fernando Bitches is already working just fine, and why wouldn't it when you consider that the dam lines from these freakish sires are unrelated and Fernando the group one King is 50% USA blood.

Those saying we are breeding ourselves into a corner are wrong imo !

Don't have a problem with Barcia over Fernando or vice a versa in a current mating

You have a bitch with both in it, where do you go then?

Feral Franky/Good Odds Harada look ok

Aussie Infrared or a son of Bella Infrared looks ok too or a top son

Maybe a son of SH Avatar if one steps up

We also have Magical Bale FS here and there still vials of his sire Zero Ten available

We need a Kinloch Brae son to step up an be counted as well

Maybe start looking at Irish options

The Dailys have brought out semen of Westmead Hawk and some of his sons and they seem to blending in well

Sons of Droopy's Jet, Ballymac Maeve (Roanokee line) are all options

Australia is the world leader in greyhound racing, we don't want end up like the USA with 3 sire lines dominating the whole scene

SH Avatar straws still available, best value proven import by a country mile and his Daughters are breeding on.
Superior Panama proven sire of fast Hounds here and USA !

Maybe those Oz breeders importing broods should investigate what straws are in storage in the USA ???
I would say there are plenty of hidden Gems that will never be utilised in the USA !

The main reason Kinloch Brae was so successful in Aus imo was that he carried Max Moss in the x path. All you needed was brood with Temlee in the x path and there was a chance of the mating nicking as Temlee carried Max Moss' brother Mister Moss also in x. Bring the two brothers together and it's a 100% intensity or vigour created through different individuals.

You lose that Max Moss intensity as it's not genetically possible for Max Moss to pass his x chromosome to those pups through a son of Kinloch Brae.

The main way a son of Kinloch Brae is likely to be a top stud here is if his dam nicks with brood bitch lines such as Chloe Allen(Fernando Bale's dam) does with both Bombastic Shiraz and Brett Lee amongst others for example, OR as Kinloch Brae as a dam sire as Max Moss' x chrome can be accessed that way. How many people will use Kinloch Brae bitches at stud if they aren't fast enough? Yet they cld be golden at stud if matched well.

It'll be that little bit more difficult for sons of Kinloch Brae to reach the standards Kinloch Brae himself set as a stud dog for the purely genetic reason that you lose Max Moss in the x path. Cheers.

The main reason KB succeeded at stud imo was because like other top sires past
and present he passed on desirable traits to his offspring !

ok but which desirable traits?

from where in the pedigree in particular did they come from ?

is there any genetic evidence or logical theoretical outcomes that show this and justify their importance to the pedigree ?

it's ok to make general statements but if you cant back them up how do breeders measure their worth ?

The most important trait of all being the ability to run fast !
A trait that KB certainly possessed !

I agree. I'm sure a dog in KB's pedigree from 50+ years ago, dozens of generations back and that makes up a minuscule percentage of his pedigree are the obvious reasons he is so successful. Isn't it obvious?

Serious kB was a success because of max moss 50+yrs ago
Why not to downing
Why not the mayhorn pride
Why not the buzz off
kB was successful because he was a dam good race dog n had that potency to be a good sire
I'm sure if you looked harder enough there was just as many slow as there was fast with kB

Not necessarily just that Wayne, but with outcrosses it's far easier to spot the linebreeding angles and Max Moss is the obvious linebreeding angle to corner stone brood Elsie Moss who has previously left a litany of top dogs through mainly litter brothers Millers Moss & Clay Moss.

Far more recently thx to Kinloch Brae and Temlee the linbreeding angle to her appears to have rejuvenated itself through littermates Max Moss and Mister Moss.

The naysayers can only justify their thoughts if they don't believe in linebreeding in it's most basic form. btw nothing wrong with that either. Cheers.
